Our Story
One Little Girl. A Love That Keeps Growing.
The Heart Behind Savanna Gardens
Before Savanna Gardens became a wedding venue, it was simply our family’s home and a place where I spent my days with my children. We made art, played, worked in the garden, and filled the barn with family memories. It was also where we celebrated all four of our daughter Savanna’s birthdays.
Savanna was born in 2010 with Hydranencephaly. During her four years with us, she brought more love, joy, and meaning into our lives than I could ever put into words. Although she passed away in 2015, her love remains woven into our family, this property, and everything we do here.
In 2014, we hosted the very first wedding at our barn when my best friend Haley married Glen. Savanna was part of that beautiful celebration, which makes that day especially meaningful to me. Before this was ever a business, it was already a place where we gathered to celebrate the people we loved.
From 2014 through 2017, we continued opening the property to family and friends for weddings and other special gatherings. In 2018, we began hosting weddings professionally and named the venue Savanna Gardens in honor of our daughter.
The barn where we once gathered around Savanna’s birthday cake became a place where couples exchanged vows, families came together, and new memories began. Over the years, we have welcomed weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations of life, and so many other meaningful moments.
I never imagined that the place where I spent my days making art and playing with my children would become what it is today. Watching other families celebrate love here has shown me how powerful it can be to have a beautiful place to gather.
I feel incredibly blessed and grateful that caring for these spaces and welcoming people into them is what I get to do with my life.
The Family Behind the Dream
John and I have been married since 2009, and we are the proud parents of five daughters. Our family is at the heart of everything we have built, and I am deeply proud of and grateful for each of our girls. Their love, strength, and individuality continue to shape our family and the life we are creating together.
Someday, I hope to leave these beautiful venues to our daughters. My hope is that they will make them their own, follow their own dreams, and allow these special places to continue growing and changing with them. More than businesses, I hope the venues become part of our family’s legacy: places born from love that our daughters can carry forward in whatever way feels meaningful to them.
A New Chapter at Coyote Creek Ranch
As Savanna Gardens continued to grow, I began to wonder how much further I could follow this dream. I decided to see how big I could dream and began searching for another special property where people could gather and celebrate.
When I found Coyote Creek Ranch near Murphys, I fell in love.
Set across 18 beautiful acres, the property had everything I had dreamed of finding: rustic barns, open spaces, a winding creek, and charming structures filled with history and character. There was a feeling of life already having been lived there, and I could immediately imagine all the new stories and memories the property could hold.
Adding Coyote Creek Ranch gives us a second location where couples and families can come together. Savanna Gardens at the Barn in Sonora offers the intimate garden beauty and beloved family barn where our story began. Coyote Creek Ranch offers wide-open spaces, rustic barns, and the natural beauty of the foothills.
Two Locations. One Heart Behind Them.
Although our story has grown to include two locations, the heart behind it has never changed.
Savanna will always be at the center of why we do what we do. Her name is part of the venue, but her presence in our story goes much deeper. It lives in the memories that began here, the love and care we put into every space, and the gratitude we feel whenever a family chooses one of our properties for the moments that matter most.
What began as a place filled with the love of one little girl has grown into two places where love continues to be celebrated.
Thank you for becoming part of Savanna’s story and helping her love continue to grow.
With love,
Bobby
